Social Media Guidance for Parents and Children
The school operates a secure, monitored network which blocks all access to social networks for all users, both children and staff. The checking of the websites being accessed by children outside of school is the responsibility of the parents. Regular checks on the types of websites being accessed is advisable.
In using social media, the term and conditions for creating an account require users to be aged 13 or older and as such none of the children in the school should have an account on any of these sites. The social media sites set age limits to ensure that all users are old enough to understand how their comments might upset others and cause conflicts outside of the websites.
Lots of useful information about the different social networks can be found on the NSPCC Keeping Children Safe Online website: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/
