SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Provision
Our SENDCO is Mrs S Durkin who can be contacted via email: sdurkin.olsw@ctkcc.co.uk
We recognise that each child is an individual and that some children need a little extra help with certain aspects of their school life. At Our Lady & St Werburgh's we aim to support all our children in the best way, so that they can flourish and develop in every aspect of their development.
SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. According to the Code of Practice, a child has SEND if:
"they have a learning difficulty or disability that means that he or she has significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of the other children of the same age"; or
"they have a disability which significantly prevents or hinders him or her from making use of the educational facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools or mainstream post 16 institutions."
We have produced some information to help you understand our approach to working with children and parents. If you have any further questions about our SEND provision, please get in touch with Mrs Durkin via email: sdurkin.olsw@ctkcc.co.uk
CTKCC - SEND Local Offer
The SEND Local Offer is a statutory document that each Local Authority has to provide bringing together services and information on how children and young people are supported in meeting their specific needs. We are a member of the Christ the King Catholic Collegiate which spans both Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent operating in two Local Authorities. The SEND Local Offer document below outlines the differences and signposts you to the SEND local offers for each individual school with in the collegiate.
