Our Faith

As a Catholic school, our faith is at the heart and centre of all that we serve to achieve. Our school motto, 'May God's will be done' echoes the words of Mary, our patroness, when she accepted God's call at the Annunciation ("I am the handmade of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word"- Lk 1:38), the words of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane ("Not my will, but Yours be done" -Lk 22:42) and is prayed in the Our Father, the prayer that Jesus Himself taught us.

We celebrate and share our faith in a variety of ways at Our Lady and St Werburgh's through weekly whole school worship including weekly attendance at Mass, Monday Gospel worship led by the children and our Friday reflective worship led by the Headteacher, before our Merit assembly. We also gather each Wednesday afternoon to share and discuss the following day's Mass readings and worship and praise in song. Children also lead many liturgies and prayer services throughout the Church's year, including Advent, Lent, Remembrance and the Marian months of May and October. Children also take the lead in planning and leading class-led liturgies in an age-appropriate way.
